This is a letter from Rod Sterling, the screenwriter who created the Twilight Zone, about his frustration with commercials in films when they were aired on television. He argues that television shows are structured to allow for advertisements, with breaks written into the story so the commercials do not interrupt the plot flow. Films, on the other hand, are meant for continuous viewing and are therefore negatively affected by the commercial breaks. Sterling clearly felt strongly enough about this issue to write in about it, though obviously nothing has really changed since movies are still shown on tv with commercial breaks all the time. This letter relates to my thesis topic in that it shows someone wanting to change television formatting and writing about it, though obviously it does not have to do with the use of Twitter in these campaigns.
