It Gets Better Project

My thesis is on the metamorphosis of the American family and how gay parents have gradually become a more accepted part of American culture. The It Gets Better Project, started by two concerned men after the rise in teen suicides because of harassment for being gay/lesbian/bi/transgendered, is an amazing set of videos that use encouraging messages from members of the LGBT community and pop culture in general to remind teens that bullying does end and life does in fact get better.

I don't know what it's like to be taunted for being gay, and I don't know what it's like to come out to friends and family, but these videos are a huge step in making life better for those who do have to go through the often traumatizing ordeal. I've seen a lot of them before, and I just found this one, which specifically uses a number of gay dads to speak to LGTB teens who are worried about their futures. Though it's not something that will be very useful for my thesis itself, it's very related to my idea of gay parents gradually being a more accepted part of American culture, and I think it's pretty powerful.
